M2: Putting it into Practice

Symbolism can be defined as using an image, person, place or thing to represent another thing. Symbolism can be found really anywhere from music, to artwork to film and television. Over the weekend I went to see Mother! And it is a perfect example of symbolism. It is a new film out Directed by Darren Aronofsky. (I don't mean to spoil!) A couple living in a rural setting in which the woman is always trying to please her husband, she represents mother nature. Always trying to nurture him in every way possible. The house in which he loves like no other represents earth as place of peace and harmony. And he husband who represents a god like figure, writes a new poem in which no one can see. My thoughts are that it was maybe suppose to represent a bible or something along the lines of that. Throughout the movie you see many people come and go into their home uninvited and continuously wanting to please the "creator" of the poem. In the end the people coming to visit the home (earth) of the creator eventually disturbing it of their rude manor, taking what is not theirs etc. The entire story is literally based on symbolism, and without really knowing this before hand the story is very, very strange.
I think that symbolism is such an important factor to bring into movies, tv etc. It can really deepen the meaning of so many things and really make people think out side the box. Too many things today allow us to not really have to think about the meaning of what it is about. But, using symbols is such an expressive and new way of telling a story.

Time is an essential part of basically everything, and even in film, photography are sometimes the most important in terms of capturing the perfect moment. In movies you can sometimes redo the same scene 30 times to get it exactly right, but it just takes that one perfect moment in time for it to replicate what the director was envisioning the entire time. For example in the movie the Hunger Games, in one of the scenes Katniss has to shoot the arrows to show her skill with the bow and arrow. The director had to capture this moment perfect, she could have messed up 5 times out of 6, but the 6th time maybe it was perfect. The same thing can go for photographs it can take a photographer 50 shots to get that perfect shot the timing has to be precise in order to achieve everything he/she wants.

Collaboration is so important, without it I really feel it would be hard to produce any type of film, music video, tv series. Just like any other type of industry knowledge is power. The more people you can get together will most likely benefit any project you are working on. In film especially with effects, audio, costume design, etc are all important factor to any type of production. Finding the right people to work together is something I love and would love to do in the future. I love working with like and different minded people.  In the movie the Hunger Games there are so many people working on this one film and without them it wouldn't be what it is today. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1392170/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast
